Lindsey + Doug: Maine Lake Wedding
Lindsey and Doug share an adventurous spirit, so I was completely thrilled when they asked me to photograph their Maine wedding.They have been all over the world together from Patagonia to their own van-life adventure across the US. My first meeting with them was in their beautiful River front home that they fixed up together and had just moved into a few months prior. They have wonderful taste, hearts of gold, and love being outdoors, so I knew their wedding would be epic.
Their off grid Maine wedding was hosted at Doug’s fathers Camp in Sumner, Maine. Lindsey got ready with her bridal party at the Maine Camp while Doug and his groomsmen set up at the Lake Camp. Lindsey’s bridal style was bohemian and celestial- she even went barefoot for most of the day. Her bridesmaids looked like water goddesses dressed in blue with the most incredible flower crowns made by FIELD Floral Studio. After a sweet toast and gifts exchange the group drove over to the Lake Camp for the first look.
Doug waited for Lindsey out on the ceremony rock. Upon seeing each other they were both elated and soaked up some quiet time together before the festivities started. A sweet rain rolled in while we were taking portraits, and it brought a gorgeous mist along with it for the ceremony.
Guests threw on rain coasts and ponchos and headed to their seats. Doug's good friend officiated and included personal stories that added laughter to their radiant exchange of love. As the ceremony ended the bagpiper began to play, and the joy floated in the air. The couple walked up the hill and were greeted with hugs, handshakes, and a bottle of 14 year old Oban whiskey.The whole group headed back to the main camp for the reception, and Lindsey and Doug took their first ride as a married couple on an ATV. Upon their arrival, they were welcome with some of the most enthusiastic hollers I have ever heard.
Their catering provided by Chimney Rock Food Co was exquisite. The menu was made up of local fare including lots of seafood- Lindsey even made a point to shuck an oyster in her wedding dress! They had beer from local breweries, a whisky bar, and to top it all off their dessert was donuts from the Holy Donut in Portland, Maine. And yes- I did take a donut to go.
Lindsey and Doug make this world a better place, and I am honored to captured their incredible journey. Cheers to Lindsey and Doug!!

Maya + Binit: Interfaith Mountain Wedding
Maya and Binit's Hindu-Christian fusion Wedding took place in the forest and fields of Montfair Resort Farm. The bride got ready in a sweet little cabin surrounded by her bridesmaid who sported their choice of floral gowns. Maya's gown was custom made to include special fabrics- a sari she had chosen, and lace from her Grandmother's wedding dress. Binit came dressed in a traditional sherwani for their first look. The two shared a sweet, tearful moment on the porch of the cabin. Then, Binit was whisked away for his Baraat- a traditional Indian groom's procession leading to the ceremony. The ceremony began with the groom walking down the aisle with his parents, followed by the bride walking down the aisle with hers. Led by Claire Frances- an interfaith minister- their ceremony included elements from both traditions- readings, meditation, blessings, and vows. After the ceremony was done and family photos taken, the couple joined their guests for a picturesque lakeside cocktail hour. Dinner took place inside the lodge as did heartfelt toasts, spirited dancing, and a joyful cake cutting. Maya and Binit's love for eachother is so apparent, and they brought together such an incredibly beautiful and diverse community to celebrate it. Congratulations Maya + Binit!

CHLOE + THOMAS: MODERN BROOKLYN WEDDING AND EPIC AFTER PARTY
Chloe and Thomas were married on a beautiful October day in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Their wedding day was an incredible gathering, bringing together their families from opposite sides of the country. On top of that, Chloe and Thomas had spent a year apart while Chloe was working on her Phd abroad. Guests gathered at AURORA, where Chloe and Thomas walked down the aisle hand in hand, surrounded by a magical ivy garden. Immediately after the ceremony, the reception was full of cozy embraces, laughter, and cocktails. Later that evening, festivities continued at the lively, Threes Brewing in Gowanus. Thomas- a musician rocked a song to Chloe just prior to the spirited cake cutting. The party continued with the power house Fruit x Flowers. This unique celebration was a dream to photograph. Best Engagement Photos of the Summer
As Fall begins, I look back on the beautiful summer I had. I spent much of the season photographing and getting to know incredible couples in love. These places they chose to be captured in have special meaning to them. The settings are places they were engaged, fell in love, or currently live together. I feel like every post I say how grateful I feel, and I am going to do it again. I am grateful to witness so much love and joy in the world for my job! Thank you to all my clients {friends} for a wonderful summer. Without any further ado, here are a collection of some of my favorite engagement photos of the season.
EMILY + HARRY: ELEGANT GARDEN BBQ WEDDING
Emily and Harry hold a special place in my heart. They were one of the first couples to book with me when I moved back to the east coast, and I so admire their passion for life. They both were getting their masters, moving, and traveling all over while planning their wedding. The wedding festivities took place at The River Farm: home of the American Horticultural Society, so the entire property is breathtaking. Emily and Harry started the day with a private first look in a shaded glade they had chosen together. Then they walked to a large old Dogwood tree to read letters they had written to each other. For the ceremony they both took the arms of their parents, and walked down the aisle to violin played by a friend. Their soccer coach from highschool married them with a sweet, personalized ceremony. For the rest of the night they reunited with loved ones from all over, ate delicious BBQ, and danced. It was such a joy to see their day come alive with beauty and love. Congratulations Emily and Harry!
